Daily Sketch / Wolfman and Friends: Sharks
With the alternative theme being “Bears (the sharks of the woods)” I couldn’t help but think of Ryan Ottley’s Grizzly Shark which was a whole lot of fun. So I ran with that idea. It’s always so goofy to see sharks pop out of trees.
Ventured into Manga Studio EX4’s brush pens and they’re kinda fun, little annoying. I’d like to keep experimenting with them to see if I can control them a little better but at the moment they’re showing me the potential of a good hybrid from my clean digital inks and character-ed brush pen. I also played around with a some crosshatching pattern that I don’t know how I feel about. It’s kind of hit and miss.
Oh well, it’s fun to experiment.

Wolfman and Friends / Daily Sketch: Gary Oldman - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Pen. 4” x 6” ~12 mins
Wanted to do something entirely different this time. Finally got around to watching Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (I really enjoyed it) and I’ve always liked Gary Oldman so it just seemed like the right idea.
All pen, all the time. It was kinda fun working this way again (who knows when the last time I did was) but I could use some more refreshers.
Also, ugh, his mouth drags a little too far.

Bruce Wayne
Pencil and Ink. 4” x 6” ~10 mins
I’ve been going fore likenesses recently trying to really get down what makes someone who they are, so expect more of this stuff. Also, I’ve been playing with that brush pen more.

Union Soldier Robot
4”x6” ~35 mins
Trying out some traditional sketching for a change. Also, I love word balloons for robots but didn’t know what to make him say.

Tried to channel the Wolfman for this one. Ended up with an interesting hybrid. Rumors claim the beard is on vacation.
